DescriptionThe Texas Almanac for 1858. Galveston: Richardson & Co., 1857. 8vo. 194 pp., plus 84 pages of ads at the rear. Complete with the rare hand-colored, folding 16.5" x 14" "Map of the State of Texas From the Latest Authorities" by J. H. Young and published by Charles Desilver, Philadelphia bound in front. The text block has been roughly re-sewn into stiff paper wraps, almost certainly done in the middle 19th century. It is possible that part of the original blue wraps have been mounted to the inside of the replaced wraps. Though the contents are slightly toned and have moderate foxing throughout, this rare work generally remains in very good condition.
The second annual Texas almanac from Richardson & Company.
