Set forth and Allowed to be Sung in all Churches, of all the People together, before and after Morning and Evening Prayer; and also before and after Sermons: And moreover in Private Houses, for t heir Godly Solace and Comfort, laying apart all ungodly Songs and Ballads, w hich tend only to the Nourishing of Vice, and Corrupting of Youth. Bailey (small letterpress ticket affixed to foot of front pastedown), chain borders rolled in gilt and double-fillet borders rolled in blind, spine lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Contemporary ownership inscription ("John Ballard") to title. Small marginal tear to fore-edge of F8. Dampstain to upper inner corner of D1 to G2. Leaves G1 and G2 trimmed close, affecting headline. Overall a good copy of this important work.
