A collection of informal biographical and anecdotal essays and stories by Norman Goree Kittrell (1849-1927), a Texas judge and legislator. Among the many persons profiled are J. Pinkney Henderson, Ashbel Smith, Sam Houston, H. R. Runnels, Frank R. Lubbock, Oran Milo Roberts, Pendleton Murrah, J. W. Throckmorton, Richard Coke, John Ireland, James S. Hogg, William P. Hobby, and Pat M. Neff. The last third of the book is comprised of chapters containing Kittrell's opinions and memories of the Texas courts and judiciary. In E. W. Winkler's review of the book, he wrote: "The volume will be read for its witty sayings, apt illustrations, humorous episodes, tragic incidents, and delightful anecdotes" (Southwestern Historical Quarterly, Vol. 25., 1922). Surprisingly scarce.
