First edition; 100 copies printed, per Howes. 8vo. 123pp. Photographs. Dark blue-green cloth, with titles stamped in white on front board, and in gilt on spine. Marbled endpapers. Large circular area of faint discoloration to both boards, with some rippling of cloth. Extremities lightly worn. Occasional foxing. First flyleaf appears to be excised. Pencil name to title page, apparently a relative of the author. Small bookplate to verso of front free endpaper. Very good. Scarce.

    In-depth history of the town of Brenham and an overview of Washington County, with a lengthy chapter on "The Life of Richard Fox Brenham, the Mier Martyr, for Whom the City of Brenham, Washington County, Texas, Is Named." Chapters also on the Giddings family, the Shepard family, W. W. Searcy, the Low family, Washington-on-the-Brazos, early German settlers and their descendants, and Hugh Kerr.
