Leigh Brackett. Two Science Fiction Classics, including: The Long Tomorrow. Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1955. First edition. Octavo. 222 pages. Publisher's tan cloth with red spine titles. Dust jacket. Minimal shelf wear to the boards. Textblock edges display the faintest of toning. Dust jacket has noticeable wear along the edges, corners, and spine ends, with rubbing to the boards, including two horizontal tape abrasions 3.5 and 2.5 inches in length across the top and bottom of the front panel, respectively. Overall, a very good copy. [and:] The Starmen. New York: Gnome Press, Inc., [1952]. First edition. One of many Gnome Press titles sold to military libraries, this one to the American Merchant Marine Library. Octavo. 213 pages. Publisher's gray cloth with black spine titles. Dust jacket. Book is ex-library, with an ink stamp both on the front pastedown and along the top text edge, and moderate shelf wear, especially along the bottom edge. Textblock lightly toned along the edges, with a minuscule damp stain on the fore-edge. Dust jacket noticeably worn along the edges, folds, and spines, with mild paper loss, notably a one inch triangular section at the bottom of the rear panel. All in all, a good copy of this Brackett classic. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
