DescriptionJohn Steinbeck. The Pearl. With drawings by José Clemente Orozco. New York: The Viking Press, 1947. First edition, first issue dust jacket. Terra Cotta cloth with the front cover stamped in black and the spine stamped in black and gilt. Dust jacket with $2.00 price. Very good.
Octavo. 122 pages.
Very minor bumping to spine ends and bottom edge of rear board, small amount of white discoloration to the joints and darkening to the top edges. Jacket is lightly rubbed and soiled, some closed tears and chipping especially to the spine. A very good copy of this moralizing novel based upon a Mexican folk tale.
First edition dust jacket points: Steinbeck looking towards his left (the spine).

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.View More Testimonials
