James T. DeShields. Cynthia Ann Parker. The Story of Her Capture At the Massacre of the Inmates of Parker's Fort; of her Quarter of a Century Spent Among the Comanches, as the Wife of War Chief, Peta Nocona; and of her Recapture at the Battle of Pease River, by Captain L. S. Ross of the Texian Rangers. St. Louis, 1886. First edition. Inscribed by the author on the second front free endpaper: "Presented to/ Miss Londelda Huddleston/ By the Author/ Nov 17- 1886/ Belton Texas". 8vo. 80 pp. Photographs. Original decoratively blind-stamped brown cloth with titles and vignette stamped in gilt on the front board. Boards stained, faded and worn at the edges. Spine ends chipped and worn. Front free endpaper missing, contents toned, and a few pages with closed tears and loose. Hinges loose. A worn but good copy.

Related newspaper articles from the 1940s, 1950s and '60s have been laid in to the book including an obituary for Thomas Elbridge Battle mounted to the front pastedown. Battle was present with Ross at the freeing of Cynthia Ann Parker. In addition, a 1950s vintage picture from a magazine featuring Baldwin Parker, son of Quanah Parker, signing an autograph is mounted on the verso of the dedication page.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
