    Octavo. vii, 327 pages. Four pages of advertisements at the rear.

    Sage cloth with the spine stamped in gilt and the front cover stamped in cream and black. Brown-orange illustrated endpapers.

    Some rubbing, lightly bumped corners and spine ends, darkening to edges and spine and spine lettering is almost completely rubbed off. Small notation and previous owner's name in pencil on front endpapers and front hinge is beginning to crack. Very good condition.

    First edition, second issue points: True first edition was printed in 1905 "printed for copyright purposes only". This copy is the first published edition and is presumed second state due to the tipped-in title leaf, whereas presumed first states have an integral title page. "Set up and electrotyped. Published October, 1906" on the copyright page. BAL 11888 and BAL 11896.
