Original brown cloth over stiff wraps with titles stamped in gilt on the front cover. Light wear at the joints with light shelf wear at the extremities. Contents toned and slightly brittle as is usual with this title. Gilt titles worn. Former owner's book plate on the front pastedown. A sound copy in very good condition.

    Duval gives a vivid account of his capture and miraculous escape from the massacre of Fannin's command at Goliad in 1836 as well as an intimate view of pioneer life in Texas.
