Harlan Ellison: Production Archive for Harlan Ellison's Watching. Several manila folders of material relating to the publication of Harlan Ellison's Watching, a book of film reviews and essays 25 years in the making, and published in 1989. Includes a number of signed letters back and forth between Ellison and the publisher, Underwood-Miller, including a typed letter signed "Harlan" on Ellison's personal stationery. The archive also includes various states of the colophon page, two copies of the original photograph used on the dust jacket flap, a proof of the dust jacket eventually used on the book, a manila folder jammed pack with reviews of Ellison's work and articles on his talents as a writer and as a social critic. The reviews also include several newspaper clippings and magazine articles on Ellison. Additionally, the archive includes promotional material, with several states of a one-page advertisement with holographic corrections, presumably in Ellison's hand. A letter of provenance signed by Charles F. Miller of Underwood-Miller, Inc. accompanies this lot.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
