Quarter light green cloth over gray-green boards with the spine stamped in gilt and the front cover stamped in gilt and olive green. Accompanied by an autograph letter signed by the author. Very good.

    Very light rubbing and soiling, slightly bumped corners and spine ends which are beginning to fray and darkening to the top edge. Small pencil notations to endpapers.

    Henry Cuyler Bunner (1855-1896) was the editor of Puck from 1877 until his death, during which time he transformed the weekly periodical into a highly influential political and social publication.

    The first twelve stories first appeared in Puck between July and October of 1890. The thirteenth story "An Old, Old Story," appeared prior to the others in January of 1888.

    The letter is addressed to W. Scott Way, the owner and editor of the Middletown Transcript newspaper in Delaware.

    First edition, first state points: No advertisements, page 47 is numbered, top edge is cut while the others are uncut. BAL 1913
