Full calf. Triple gilt rules to boards. Spines elaborately decorated in gilt; gilt lettering to black title labels. Salmon endpapers. General wear to all volumes; corners lightly bumped. Some toning to pages. Previous owner's name on fly-leaf of volume I. Overall, a very good set.
A handsome first edition set of Burney's Camilla, a novel highly praised by Jane Austen, who is listed as a subscriber in the 36-page subscription list which reads like a who's who of late-eighteenth century English society. It is believed that this is the only time Jane Austen's name appeared in print during her lifetime.
