    First edition, first issue (with the imprint of J. J. Arakelyan on copyright page and "wore" rather than "were" on page 210, line 8). Octavo. [i-iv], [i]-vi, [7]-470, [2, blank] pages (complete per BAL).

    Original pea-green cloth with titles stamped in black on spine and front cover, and with gilt decorations on spine and front cover. Moderate wear, rubbing, and soiling to covers. Corners bumped and rubbed. Bookplate removed from front pastedown. Dust-soiling to page edges. All in all, a clean copy in very good condition.

    The first issue of one of the most important, and most socially influential, Utopian novels of the nineteenth century.
