DescriptionEdouard de Verb (Arthur Davison Ficke). The Hell of the Good, a Theological Epic in Six Books. "Twenty-Two Copies Privately Printed Not to be Sold" on title page. [N.p.(New Mexico?): n.d., circa 1930].
First edition. Inscribed and signed by the author on title page. Octavo.
Green cloth over paper boards. Minor wear and soiling overall. Interior pages are lightly age toned, with occasional faint fingerprints at edges. This was Frieda Lawrence's personal copy, inscribed as follows: "For Frieda - with apprehension, but with affection!" Although unclear, research indicates this edition was published in 1930, with the location possibly being New Mexico. Ficke (1883 - 1945) was an Iowa-born essayist and poet.
