McClurg / & Co." Printing state A, according to Currey, "with 'W. F. Hall Printing Co. / Chicago' set in two lines of Old English type on copyright page." Slightly cocked binding. Sunned spine. Cracked hinges. Previous owner's name in ink on front pastedown. Boards and edges dusty. Overall, a very good copy, in a facsimile dust jacket.
Author's first book. The story appeared, serialized, in All-Story magazine, October, 1912. Everett F. Bleiler writes that the Tarzan series introduced "perhaps the most widely known character to emerge from pulp literature."
