C.S. Forester - Three First Editions - Captain Horatio Hornblower (Various Dates). Set during the turbulent years of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, the Hornblower Saga by author C.S. Forester follows the career of Horatio Hornblower as he grows from a raw and uncertain midshipman into a mature and respected Admiral. Beginning with the publication of The Happy Return in 1937, the Hornblower phenomenon spanned 30 years, finally coming to a close with the release of Hornblower and the Crisis in 1967, the year after Forester's death.
