Description

Constitution of the State of West Texas. [Austin, 1868]. 35 pp. Plus page of errata. Original printed wrappers. Minor Chipping. Very good copy. Half morocco slipcase. First edition. Graff Fifty Texas Rarities 43. Library of Congress Exhibition 176: "An attempt to divide Texas." The work is a fully developed constitution for the proposed new commonwealth, carefully defining the boundaries of the State of West Texas. It was prepared by a convention authorized by a resolution of the Texas constitutional convention of 1868 which appointed commissioners to present to the federal Congress a request for the division of Texas into two or more states. The proposed capital of West Texas was to be San Antonio. Several facts are given below: Graff: "In the long Reconstruction Convention of 1868-1869, the question of dividing the state of Texas was raised." Kuhlmann, p. 77. An interesting sidelight in Texas history. Courtesy of Michael Heaston.Austin.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
