Red-cloth-backed. Black lettering on spine and front cover. Some minor wear on the binding, particularly at the head and foot of the spine. Minor foxing in the paper. Overall very good condition. The dust jacket is very good with some minor creases and paper loss at the head and foot of the spine, and along the top edge of the front cover.
Gruesome Cargoes was number four in the British "Not at Night" series of horror stories published by Selwyn and Blount. The fifteen stories include "When Hell Laughed" by Flavia Richardson (the editor's pseudonym), "The Man Who Ordered a Double" by Rupert Grayson, and "When Glister Walked" by Oscar Cook. Intended as a one-time publication, the "Not at Night" series eventually included eleven volumes and an omnibus edition between 1925 and 1937. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.
