Two quarto volumes. x, [1]-450; x, [1]-457 pages. Illustrated by Cecil Aldin. Volume one with 13 color plates; volume two with 11 color plates. Both volumes with numerous black and white illustrations in text. Original tan cloth over boards with cloth backstrip. Gilt vignette on front board of each volume and titles lettered in brown. Spines lettered in gilt with each having a character vignette. Edges of pages untrimmed. Some pages uncut. Former owner's bookplates on the front pastedown of each volume. Hinges just starting, with trivial wear to the boards. Overall a fine set, housed in a beautiful quarter book-back slipcase.
