    First edition. Three octavo volumes. iv, [1]2-306; vi, [1]2-306; vi, [1]2-426. Two frontispieces, 130 woodcuts, and twenty-five initials by Halbot Browne ("Phiz"); one frontispiece and thirty-eight woodcuts by George Cattermole.

    Original dark brown ribbed cloth with gilt clock vignettes on each volume and ornate floral border in blind, gilt titles and decoration on the spine. Endpapers and all edges marbled - later or variant blue marbled endpapers with a red vein. Boards worn at the corners and spine ends. Minor splits in the edge of spine volume I. Occasional light foxing, else a sound set with gilt still bright. Very good. Housed in an attractive modern quarter leather slipcase.
