    Booth Tarkington. The Gentleman from Indiana. New York: Doubleday & McClure Co., 1899. First edition, first issue, second binding. Signed, inscribed and dated by the author on the half-title page. Green cloth stamped in gilt and red. Top edge stained black with other edges uncut. Very good.

    More Information:

    Octavo. 384 pages.

    Very slightly bumped corners and spine ends, some rubbing and darkeneing to the spine with much of the gilt rubbing off. Small pencil notations on endpapers. A very good copy of  the Pulitzer Prize winning author's first novel.

    First edition, first issue, second binding points: Page 245 has both "eye" and "so pretty" signifying a first issue of the first edition. The ear of corn pointing downwards on the spine signifies a second binding.
