    Second edition. Folio. Forty-six double-page hand-colored engraved maps. Four double-page hand-colored charts. One double-page engraved plate of the world's tallest mountain peaks.

    Contemporary half calf over cloth boards. Marbled endpapers. Boards detached. Backstrip missing. Internally sound with normal browning, occasional soiling, and light foxing. District of Columbia map has neatly separated down the center, but both parts are present. Overall, very good condition.

    Maps of all the United States and Territories. Also South and Central America, as well as the islands in the Caribbean. From the advertisement: "The Publishers respectfully submit this Atlas to the citizens of the United States, with the hope that it will be found to contain a greater body of valuable information respecting the Western Continent, and the adjacent Islands, than is elsewhere compressed within a single volume."
