John Steinbeck. Zapata. A narrative, in dramatic form, on the life of Emiliano Zapata. Woodcuts by Karin Wikström. [Covelo, California]: The Yolla Bolly Press, [1991].

First edition with these woodcuts, one of 190 copies out of a total edition of 257 signed by the artist. Quarto. [2, blank], [vi], [172] pages. With seven full-page woodcuts (two of which are fold-out) inserted throughout.

Publisher's three-quarter burgundy buckram over printed hand-made paper boards, printed paper label on spine, publisher's matching slipcase with printed paper label. Fine.

This copy comes with a Typed Letter Signed by James Robertson , the president of the press, to Steve Larson, promising him a copy of his (Robertson's) address which he gave to the Steinbeck Festival, August 14, 1992. The address is also enclosed. The letter (approximately 7.25 x 6.5 inches) is on Yolla Bolly stationery and dated 1 September, 1992; the address is on nineteen leaves (11 x 8.5 inches, rectos only), printed from a word processor. Fine. Housed in imitation red leather slipcase, the whole (book, letter, address and a printed flyer for the festival) is housed in an imitation red leather clamshell case.
