[George Macy, publisher]. Collection of Over 200 Limited Editions Club Books. New York and elsewhere: LEC, 1930-1975. First LEC editions, generally, a few being later with different illustrations. Each limited to between 1,100 and 2,000 copies (most being 1,500); majority signed by the illustrator or other contributors. Includes works illustrated by Rockwell Kent, Lynd Ward, Miguel Covarrubias and many others. Predominantly quartos. Contains 210 publications (and one duplicate of Moby Dick), and a few additional supplemental volumes, including three issues of The Dolphin. Publisher's bindings, slipcases and glassines. Generally, a good collection. Numerous slipcases defective or missing, most glassines tattered if present, only a few releases-War and Peace and Man and Superman among them-incomplete; general shelfwear and occasional soiling. Individually, a substantial minority of books, mostly later volumes, are quite nice. A significant collection of one of the most successful fine press publishers of the twentieth century. Sold as is.
