    A Beautiful Fore-Edge Painting in a Handsome
    Early Nineteenth-Century Binding

[Fore-Edge Painting]. Madame Cottin. Elizabeth; or, the Exiles of Siberia. [Bound with:] James Beattie. The Minstrel; or, the Progress of Genius and Other Poems. London: John Sharpe, 1817. Twelvemo. [viii], 184, 176 pages. With two engraved title-pages and three inserted engraved plates, and with several intertextual engravings. With a full-color fore-edge painting of a boating scene. Bound in early nineteenth-century full red straight-grain morocco, boards decoratively ruled, tooled, and paneled in gilt and blind, spine decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, four raised bands, elaborate gilt board edges and turn-ins, green watered silk doublures and liners, all edges gilt and gauffered. Joints repaired with some residual wear and discoloring, minor wear to spine extremities and corners, some occasional foxing in text. Still, an attractive book. Housed in later cloth slipcase.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
