    Two Limited Editions About the Ashendene Press

    [Fine Press]. SIGNED/LIMITED. Two Books on the Ashendene Press and C.H. StJohn Hornby. Meriden, Connecticut: Bayberry Hill Press, 1970 and 1973. Both books signed and dated by Michael Hornby, son of C.H. StJohn Hornby, on the front flyleaf, with a brief pen inscription, describing the occasion of the signings, by Decherd Turner, former director of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Books include: Charles Harry StJohn Hornby. Ashendene Press A Paper Read to the Double Crown Club. 1970. Limited edition "Of 110 copies published, those numbered 1CC to 45CC form Keepsake No. 89 of the Columbiad Club of Connecticut", of which this copy is number 15CC. Sixteen pages plus colophon. Ashendene press mark on title page, two facsimile pages from Ashendene editions, large initials after Ashendene style. Marbled paper boards backed in blue cloth, paper title label on spine, deckled fore-edge, bookplate of John Carroll Collins, light shelf wear, else in near fine condition. [and:] Foster Macy Johnson. Charles Harry StJohn Hornby English Gentleman. 1973. Limited edition of 75 numbered copies, of which this is number 51. Thirty-nine pages plus colophon. Frontispiece, two illustrations, Ashendene press mark, large red initials. Marbled paper boards backed in red cloth, title plate on front board, paper label on spine, bookplate of John Carroll Collins. Pages over-opened at page 38 with wear and staple tears in page 39, occasional pencil transposition marks to text, else in very good condition. From the library of John Carroll Collins.
