    Description

    A Collection of Twenty-Four American
    or British "Canting" Bookplates

[Bookplates]. Collection of Twenty-Four "Canting" Bookplates for American or British Collectors, Mainly Twentieth Century. [N.p., n.d., though most are ca. 1900's]. Four bookplates are signed in pencil by the artists (E. D. French, Charles Bird, A. M. [?], and Fred Thompson). All bookplates attractively matted, framed and glazed in six separate frames. Frames are generally 18.75 x 15 inches. A charming and unusual collection. "Canting" means that a collector's name is depicted visually in metaphor, for example: the bookplate for Eleanor B. Church depicts a church, or the bookplate for Lucius G. Fisher depicts a fish, etc.
From the James M. Goode Collection of Bookplates.

You reach a customer base that is in many ways completely unknown to the major auction houses, and your marketing to this base is as professional as one could hope for. As I continue to wind down my holdings.
