    Limited Edition, Signed by Dulac, in a Gorgeous Sumpus Binding

    [Edmund Dulac, illustrator]. Contes et Legendes des Nations Alliees. Recueillis et Illustres par Edmond Dulac. Paris: L'Edition d'Art, [1917]. Number 999 of 1,000 copies signed by Dulac on the limitation page. Small folio. With twenty-five color plates on decorative mounts, with captioned tissue guards. Sumptuously bound in maroon crushed morocco, with gilt rules, gilt inner frame device with blind-stamped floral cornerpieces and an amazing color reproduction of a Dulac illustration comprised of leather inlays on the front board. Spine decoratively tooled and titled in gilt inside five raised bands. Gilt triple-ruled border on the rear board. Boards edges ruled in gilt. Elaborate gilt inner dentelles, stamp-signed, "Sumpus Ltd Oxford St W." All edges gilt. An absolutely stunning binding, with minor wear to the spine and along the joints. Mild abrasions to the corners. Rear board with a few fingernail scratches and a couple of small abrasions. Bookplate to front pastedown. A very good copy of a binding-collector's dream.
