    John Pearson's Fictional Biography of
James Bond - with the Rare Proof Copy
Inscribed by Pearson (as James Bond)

[Ian Fleming, association]. John Pearson. James Bond the authorized biography of 007. London and New York: Sidgwick & Jackson and William Morrow & Company, [1973]. Comprising: the proof copy to the first edition, the first edition, and the first American edition. The proof copy is inscribed on the first leaf by Pearson (as James Bond) to the film critic of the London Evening Standard, Alexander Walker: "To Alexander Walker/always my most/severe critic/James Bond". Together, three octavo volumes. [vi], 317, [1, blank]; [iv], 317, [1, blank]; [vi], 317, [1, blank] pages. Proof copy is in publisher's wrappers and preliminary dust jacket, trade editions are in publisher's bindings and dust jackets. Proof copy jacket is somewhat worn at edges (jacket is slightly taller than the book), proof copy binding a bit worn, with some minor soiling and a few short tears, and some soiling to edge of text block. Jackets and bindings of trade editions with some very minor rubbing. Still, proof copy is near fine, and trade editions are bright and fine.
This is the second James Bond novel written after Fleming's death (the first was Colonel Sun written by Kingsley Amis as "Robert Markham," published in 1968). Pearson's book is written in the form of an interview with the legendary secret agent. From the James Bond collection of Gary Firuta.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
