Eugène Delacroix. Autograph Letter Signed. "E. Delacroix." "E. Delacroix." Four pages in French with integral address sheet, 9.25" x 14.75", [Paris]; December 1, [1823 or 1829]. Addressed to a Monsieur Guilland, this letter appears to be Delacroix's passionate response to the recipient's previous letter. He mentions women and the Parisian woman that his recipient has apparently been spending time with, and whose identity he has kept private. He writes that outside of Paris one finds certain beauties, seems to talk about their superficial likeness to one another but that if one looks deeper their originality becomes apparent. Delacroix continues that he has a large blank canvas in his studio that will take all his energy to fill up. Seems that he describes his holiday, writing about a painter, about reading a marvelous book, about visiting someone who had been ill and is now much better, even singing and dancing. Says he and a friend want the Guilland to return soon.
Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863) was a French Romantic artist regarded from the outset of his career as the leader of the French Romantic School.
Condition: Letter has the usual folds, is toned, with some rubbing at edges, the third and fourth pages have a small portion missing (from wax seal when letter was opened), the ink has bled through both sides of the sheet, with several small holes and other small tears; otherwise good.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
