The Dedication Copy of Eudora Welty's First Novel

Eudora Welty. Delta Wedding. New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, [1946]. First edition of her first novel. Dedication copy, inscribed by Welty to the dedicatee of the book on the dedication page, her close friend, John Frasier Robinson: "To John - This belongs to you - / Pisa - Modena [?] - Messina [?] / here & now - love Eudora". Octavo. [vi], 247, [3, blank] pages. Publisher's full beige cloth, front cover and spine stamped in purple, dust jacket. Jacket worn with several chips and tears, some rubbing to binding. Good. John Frasier Robinson (1909-1989) was a close, life-long friend of Welty's (and her lover for a brief time). Delta Wedding was inspired in part by the diaries left by Robinson's grandmother. They corresponded frequently, and not only discussed their love of the arts, but their shared passion for literature (he, too, was a writer, though only a relatively small amount of his work was published).

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
