Edward E. ("Doc") Smith. First Lensman. Reading: Fantasy, 1950. First edition, 500 copies, inscribed on inserted leaf.

    More Information:

Edward E. ("Doc") Smith. First Lensman. Reading: Fantasy Press, 1950. First edition, one of 500 copies (this is unnumbered) inscribed on an inserted leaf (Currey issue A).

Warmly inscribed by Smith to a close friend. Octavo. [xii], 306, [2, blank] pages. With inserted limitation leaf. With illustrations by A. J. Donnell. With two jackets, both designed by Donnell, each in first issue (four titles on the rear panel instead of five, and each priced $3.00). One jacket is the usual trade edition with blue front panel and spine depicting a spaceship rocketing through space; the other is the scarce suppressed jacket with yellow front panel and spine depicting a woman's face and Lensman device (only a few copies of this jacket are assumed to exist). Both are rubbed and lightly worn and soiled, mild sunning to edges of binding. Overall, a fine copy with an excellent inscription and with both jackets.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
