    Edward Albee Carbon Typescript of "A Delicate Balance." Typed manuscript, 8.5" x 11", 159 leaves paginated I-47, II-1-23, II-2-38, III-46, with additional pages II-2-20A, III-25A, III-27A, III-28A, and III-35A. Inscribed by Albee on page 1 to Elaine Steinbeck, "John's play; this copy for Elaine. With love, Edward."
    Text on recto only. Loose sheets housed in a green cardstock folio with a metal clip. Front with paper label taped down, with the title and author typewritten. Holograph emendations and additions in ink and pencil throughout.

    Albee's "A Delicate Balance" first premiered in September 1966 and went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama the following year.

    Condition: Light toning at the margins, with creasing and minor chipping at the page edges and corners. Areas of dampstaining, soiling, and warping throughout. The folio is worn at the spine and front cover. Paper label is toned and foxed.
