    More Information:

Edmund Spenser (1552-1599) poet; His main achievement. 'Faerie Queene,' was the only great poem written in England since Chaucer died. As a scholar ranking near Milton and Gray, as a metrist and inventor of the Spenserian stanza, and as the 'poet's poet' his high position and influence in our poetic literature cannot be overestimated.
