Edgar Rice Burroughs. The Son of Tarzan. Chicago: A. C. McClurg & Co., 1917. First edition, first state without dedication. Octavo. [6], 394 pages. In-text illustrations and decorated initials by J. Allen St. John. Publisher's olive cloth, spine and front lettered in gilt; all text block edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Moderate amount of shelf wear to binding; what appears to be mild insect damage along joints and near board edges; corners very softly tapped. Front hinge just starting to crack near foot. Text block softly dulled, particularly along edges, which exhibit some minor staining. Jacket rubbed; nicking, creasing, and minuscule tears along edges, most pronounced at spine and flap fold ends; short tear, less than two inches long, starting at head of rear panel fold. Very good. Zeuschner, pp. 297-298.
