Burroughs' The Girl from Hollywood in the Original First Printing Dust Jacket

Edgar Rice Burroughs. The Girl from Hollywood. New York: The Macaulay Company, [1923]. First edition, Zeuschner's second printing of book, but, according to, the printing is a first (see below). In a first printing dust jacket (probable marriage). Octavo. 320 pages. With inserted frontispiece. Publisher's full rough red cloth, front board and spine stamped in light green, first printing dust jacket (with "The Macaulay Company New York" in black square with angled corners at bottom of spine). Jacket worn, with several tears and chipping, with corresponding tape repairs to verso, front of jacket dampstained (mainly visible to jacket verso), jacket spine and rear panel soiled, with some offsetting from tape repairs visible on jacket recto. Cloth lightly rubbed, upper corners bumped, one area of tape residue on front free endpaper. A fine copy in a good jacket.
According to Zeuschner, the printing point is the lack of the words "he said" on the inserted frontispiece. However, as this frontispiece is an inserted item, it can be argued that it cannot be considered a printing point. Further to this point, states that their further research showed that in the first printing of the book, there was an error in in the printing of the word "discovered" on page 319, line 20, in which a foreign object on the printing plate (either glue or lint) caused the letter "r" in "discovered" to be blank, as in this copy. Further they state that frontispieces with and without "he said" were used simultaneously and indiscriminately (for unknown reasons). Zeuschner 164.
