    Description

Inscribed by Edgar Rice Burroughs to His Wife - in the Rare Dust Jacket

Edgar Rice Burroughs. The Cave Girl. Chicago: A. C. McClurg & Co., 1925. First edition. Presentation copy, inscribed by Burroughs on the front free endpaper: "To/Emma/From her/Cave-Man/(caved in)/Los Angeles/April 3 1925". Octavo. [viii], 323, [1, blank] pages. With frontispiece inserted. Publisher's full blue cloth, front board and spine lettered in dark green, in the rare original dust jacket. Light wear and a few short tears and small chips to jacket (mainly at upper edge), very faint offsetting to jacket verso from previous jacket protector (not apparent on front of jacket,) minor thumbsoiling to jacket, cloth spine a bit sunned, light rubbing to binding, a faint red mark on the inscribed front free endpaper, not interfering with Burroughs' inscription, frontispiece with a small creased tear at upper margin, the next few leaves with corresponding bumping. Still, a bright, fine copy in the rare jacket with a superb association. From the Edgar Rice Burroughs Collection of Roy and Dela White.
