    The First Appearance of Tarzan

Edgar Rice Burroughs. Tarzan of the Apes. In The All-Story, Volume XXIV, Number 2, October 1912. New York and London: Frank A. Munsey Company, 1912. First issue of the first ever appearance of Tarzan, containing the entire text of Tarzan of the Apes and preceding the A. C. McClurg & Co. book edition by a year-and-a-half. This was Burroughs' second published work and his first without the use of a pseudonym. Large octavo. [8], 241-480, [12] pages. The four preliminary and six concluding leaves of advertisements on brighter slick paper, in contrast to the inferior wood pulp comprising the magazine's textual leaves. Original pictorial wrappers featuring Tarzan's debut illustration by Clinton Pettee. Covers are only trifle rubbed with moderate tears to each end and the middle of the rear joint as well as a handful of minor closed tears to edges, some light chipping and creasing to spine. The verso of the front wrapper and each of the preliminary pages with dampstaining to margins but cover art and Tarzan story remain unaffected. It appears as if the four preliminary pages may have been re-inserted or tipped in, though there is no direct evidence that they are not original to this copy. Pages browned. Small wormhole occurring at bottom edge. Overall, a beautiful, very good copy of a scarce and fragile work.
    Heins, 38.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
