Inscribed by Burroughs on the front free endpaper: "Best wishes / Edgar Rice Burroughs." Octavo. 318 pages plus one-page publisher's advertisement. Five interior black-and-white plates. Publisher's gray cloth with black titles and red Janus figure on the front board and spine. Top edge stained red. Original first issue pictorial dust jacket with Janus figure and Pirates of Venus on the rear panel. Housed in a custom green cloth slipcase. Minor edge and corner wear to boards, with light dust-soiling to the panels. One bumped corner. Light toning to the text. Light dust-soiling to the jacket, which is clipped at the bottom of the rear flap fold. Minor bumping to spine ends of the jacket. Altogether a very good copy, with a nice inscription. Zeuschner 627.
