Manifiesto del Gobierno Provisional a la Nacion, Acerca de los Negocios de Yucatán. México: J. M. Lara, 1843. First edition. 8vo. 76pp. Text in Spanish. Brown printed paper wraps. Light crease to front cover at lower corner. Cover splitting about one inch at head of spine. Small patch of wear to paper on spine, revealing signatures. Overall, a nice copy in very good condition.

"This includes, at pages 10-22, a report by Andres Quintana Roo, dated at the end Mexico, February 20, 1842, followed, pages 22-34, by exhibits, of his unsuccessful diplomatic mission to Yucatan, then in revolt against Mexico, which has considerable Texas interest. Under the treaty of September 18, 1841, between Texas and Yucatan, the latter was maintaining the Texas Navy which at the time of the Quintana Roo mission was at Sisal, Yucatan, under the command of Commodore Moore, and by a combination of circumstances Quintana Roo was temporarily held a captive on one of the Texas ships. All this and comments on the Texas-Yucatan relationship are in the Quintana Roo report." (Streeter) From the Taking of Texas Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
