    Jose Maria de Letona. Decreto numero 187 del Estado Libre Independiente y Soberano de Coahuila y Tejas. Leona Vicario (i.e. Saltillo), Mexico: 1832. Folio, one side (8.25" x 11.75"). Fine condition.

    Government proclamation from the State of Coahuila and Texas, proclaiming the official dates for the state fair at the state capital, then called Leona Vicario, after the heroine of Independence, but which shortly afterward reverted to its original name of Saltillo, and the tax rate that will apply to all Mexican goods sold at the fair.

    Printed date at closing: Leona Victoria, April 8, 1832. Printed signatures of Jose Maria de Letona and Santiago del Valle (father of the Mexican novelist and historian Artemio del Valle Arizpe and later governor of the state during the Porfiriato). Not in Streeter; only copy on OCLC at the Newberry Library, from the Graff collection.
