    Limited edition, one of 950 copies. Two octavo volumes (a text volume and the manuscript facsimile). Text: 140, [1] pages. With a folding plate. Facsimile: 110 leaves, each trimmed to the dimensions of the original leaves.


    Text volume bound in quarter burgundy leatherette over mustard boards, spine lettered in gilt. Facsimile in full leatherette, boards elaborately ruled in blind, three raised bands, photographic pastedowns (the bookplates in the original manuscript). Overall, an as new copy housed in the original felt-lined cardboard slipcase (slipcase only slightly worn). 

    A beautiful facsimile reproduction of the Tristan and Isolde manuscript from the State Library in Munich. Likely produced in the middle thirteenth century, the Manuscript Cgm 51 is important not only for being the earliest document which takes up the Tristan and Isolde legend, but because of its extraordinary illumination and illustration, beautifully represented in this as-new, remarkably accurate facsimile edition.
