First edition, one of 1,426 copies with a facsimile of the D-Day Order of the Day signed by Eisenhower, this being copy number 633. Octavo (9.5 x 6 inches; 240 x 152 mm.). [xvi], [1]-559, [1, blank] pages. With limitation leaf, signed facsimile, and numerous maps and illustrations inserted throughout. Publisher's light brown buckram over beveled boards, front board stamped in black, spine stamped in black and gilt, top edge gilt, pictorial endleaves with maps of Europe. In original publisher's slipcase. Minor rubbing to spine. Slipcase has some wear, thumbsoiling, and some splitting to one joint. A fine copy in a very good slipcase.

    [Together with:] Dwight D. Eisenhower. Original Western Union Telegram from Eisenhower (The White House), dated "1959 OCT 19 PM 10 41". Half octavo sheet (6 x 8 inches; 152 x 203 mm.). Addressed to "The Honorable Stanley O Styles" the comptroller of the customs port of New York, this telegram from Eisenhower thanks Styles for his birthday wishes. With typed text affixed to Western Union sheet, as issued. Some toning, creasing. Telegram is laid-in. Very good.
