A First of The Cat in the Hat in Dust Jacket

Dr. Seuss [Theodor Geisel]. The Cat in the Hat. [New York]: Random House, [1957]. First edition, first issue, with "200/200" on front flap of dust jacket, flat rather than glazed boards, and no mention of the Beginner's Books series on back cover. Tall octavo. [62] pages. Illustrated paper boards. Illustrated endpapers. Original pictorial dust jacket. Wear to board edges and corners. A few small nicks to the board edges. Two tiny areas of discoloration to the bottom edge of the rear board. Penciled name and small stain to the verso of the front free endpaper. Light thumb-soiling to last two leaves. Light rubbing and dust-soiling to the dust jacket. One miniscule tear to the bottom edge of the rear panel. Fold lines and fold ends a bit creased, with a small area of abrasion near the spine at the top of the front panel. A wonderful copy in very good condition.
