Dashiell Hammett. The Dain Curse. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1929. First edition, first printing. Octavo. 195 x 135 mm. [8], 272, [1, imprint], [1, blank] pages. Publisher's yellow cloth, upper board ruled in brown with skull-and-crossbones stamped in red, spine stamped in brown and red, Borzoi Books device stamped in brown to lower board. Light wear to extremities, some staining to lower board, head and tail slightly pushed. Fore-edge untrimmed, top edge stained purple, bookseller notation and contemporary ownership inscription to front free endleaf recto. Internally clean and bright. Housed in a brown slipcase.
