Publisher's dark red cloth, ruled in black, silver wraparound band, stamped and lettered in dark blue; top edge stained dark blue, others rough-trimmed; in original dust jacket. Backstrip lightly rubbed; silver band worn at front joint, with some light flaking; boards just very slightly bowed. Top stain light faded near spine; endpapers lightly discolored from binding glue. Dust jacket lightly worn at edges of spine and folds; flowers on spine panel dulled just a shade; very soft horizontal crease across middle of spine panel; verso lightly rubbed. A beautiful near fine copy. Calling card signed by Daphne du Maurier laid in. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone. Basis for the 1940 Alfred Hitchcock film starring Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine and George Sanders. From the KoKo Collection.
