    Cornelius le Bruyn. Travels into Muscovy, Persia, and Parts of the East-Indies. Containing, an Accurate Description of whatever is most remarkable in those Countries... London: Printed for A Bettesworth and C. Hitch, et al., 1737.

    First edition in English. Two folio volumes. [vi], 246 (some leaves mis-paginated); [ii], 223, [11, Index] pages. Engraved frontispiece, engraved portrait of the author by G. Valck after Godfrey Kneller, three double-page engraved maps, forty-four engravings in the text, and 262 consecutively numbered copperplate engravings, some double-page or more, including the famous four-sheet folding panoramic views of Moscow and Ispahan, plus ten unnumbered engravings bound in the pages between engravings number 37 and 38.

    Contemporary calf with decorative blind tooling to boards, gilt decorations on the spine and gilt spine titles on leather title labels. Front boards of both volumes detached. Heavy wear, rubbing and abrading to binding. Corners exposed. Mostly unobtrusive and minor scattered foxing and spotting throughout the text. Toning and foxing to plates, somewhat heavier at the beginning and end leaves, and around the edges or margins. Brown staining to engraving number 35. Moderate dust-soiling and thumb-soiling throughout. A very good copy of a rare work.
