PREPARED FROM FILES OF HEAD-QUARTERS, DEPARTMENT OF S.C., GA., AND FLA. WITH FULL INDEXES. Columbia: Evans & Cogswell, 1864. Original printed front wrapper with spine title and cover title [wrapper laid down, and its blank forecorners are torn]. Pages xlvii, [1 blank], 159, [1 blank], lix, [1 blank], 276. Spine quite worn, with some loosening of text block. Browned, scattered light to moderate foxing, last leaf has several repaired tears but text has been preserved. Good+.

    "The preface by General Thomas Jordan, Chief of Staff, states that various orders of the 1864 series are included, though not indexed, because of their immediate importance to the army" [Eberstadt]. Harwell quotes from the Southern Literary Messenger's Review: "The work is very handsomely executed, and we recommend it to the public and to the officers of the army especially, as a most valuable publication."
