    Beautiful Hand-Colored Plates of Flowers

[Hand-Colored Plates]. Flora's Dictionary, by a Lady. Baltimore, Fielding Lucas, Jun., [1832]. First edition. Approximately 10 x 7.5 inches. Quarto. [2], 136, 87 (Notes and Index), [1, blank] pages. With fifty-five (of fifty-six) hand-colored plates inserted throughout. Tissue guards. Near contemporary full burgundy morocco, covers ruled in black and paneled in gilt and blind, with pineapple gilt cornerpieces, and gilt central motif of palm fronds (front cover has "M. A. P." stamped in gilt in the center), spine ruled in black and tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, four raised bands, gilt board edges and turn-ins, rose-colored silk endleaves. Some wear to binding, engraved title page and title page loose (possibly supplied), tear on page 95 (no loss), text foxed, tissue guards torn and worn, mild toning to plates. Still, a very good copy. The color on the plates is still vivid and expertly done.
