    Curtis' Massive Flora Londinensis,
    with 649 Hand-Colored Plates

    [Botany]. William Curtis. Flora Londinensis: Containing a History of the Plants Indigenous to Great Britain... London: Henry G. Bohn, 1835 (actually 1817-1828). Re-issue of the second edition of 1817-1828, with newer title-pages by Bohn. Five folio volumes. Approximately 18.75 x 11.5 inches. With 647 hand-colored engraved plates, complete (some bibliographers call for 702 plates, but now this is thought to be erroneous.) Modern full red cloth library binding, spines lettered in gilt. Ex-library copy, bindings rubbed, every plate has the perforated stamp of the Brooklyn Public Library (many affecting images), text leaves somewhat brittle with some chipping, several plates and text leaves with tears and chips, a few text leaves and one plate loose, a few text leaves and a plate with tape repairs, several gutters cracked, some toning, soiling, foxing to several text leaves and plates. Title-pages brittle with library markings. A fair set.
